Women of Holy Angels
Updated Statement 2019
Women of Holy Angels are on a mutual, exciting journey to discover the gifts of: holiness of life, purpose and mission in the world today, and growth of feminine virtues, while supporting each other as “sacred sisters” in Jesus Christ, in a truly Catholic and particularly Eastern Christian religious and spiritual manner.
The Women of Holy Angels’ goal is to grow positively in our minds, bodies and spirits, being mindful of our true vocations and current stations in life, while in communion and with support of our spiritual community at Holy Angels Church.
The Women of Holy Angels take first the Blessed Virgin Mary and secondly the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women as exemplars and spiritual mothers to which we turn to as models for the secrets of true fulfillment in Christ Jesus.
The Women of Holy Angels monthly program is to explore the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the Saints and how we can exemplify those virtues in our daily lives. There is also a website, blog and electronic bulletin board for the members in support of their spiritual growth.
Our hope is to form a sacred sisterhood within the group that will lead to true, holy and lasting friendships among the women members of Holy Angels Byzantine Catholic Church.

Our Opening Prayer for the Month of October
PRAYER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT BY ST. ANTIOCHUS
O Holy Spirit, most merciful Comforter: You proceed from the Father in a manner beyond our understanding. Come, I beseech You, and take up you abode in my heart. Purify and cleanse me from all sin, and sanctify my soul. Cleanse it from every impurity, water its dryness, melt its coldness, and save it from sinful ways. Make me truly humble and resigned, that I may be pleasing to You, and that You abide with me forever. Most blessed Light, most amiable Light, enlighten me. O rapturous Joy of Paradise, Fount of purest delight, my God, give yourself to me, and kindle in my innermost soul the fire of your love. My Lord, instruct, direct, and defend me in all things. Give me strength against all immoderate fears and against despondency. Bestow upon me a true faith, a firm hope, and a sincere and perfect love. Grant that I always do your most gracious will. Amen.
About Saint Antiochus (commemorated on December 24)
Saint Antiochus was from Galatia, and lived during the reign of Heraclius (610-641). He witnessed the martyrdom of the monks of St Sava's Monastery (May 16) by the Saracens, and recorded their sufferings. He also wrote another book, called PANDECT OF THE SCRIPTURES. Divided into 130 chapters, the book examines the moral teachings of the Holy Scriptures. A quote attributed to St Antiochus is found in the EVERGETINOS (Book 3:39). One of his best-known prayers is recited during Compline, "And grant us, Master, as we lay down to sleep, repose of both body and soul…."
